Explanation of the login / profile

Two-factor authentication is required to log in with Switch edu-ID. The SMS-based multi-factor authentication option, which was available until now, will be disabled on 14 September 2026 as it is considered insecure. Please set up an alternative authentication method for Switch edu-ID in good time to ensure that you can continue to access your account. Anyone logging in as "External" without SWITCH edu-ID can ignore this message.

How to proceed:

  1. Log in to your Switch edu-ID account.
  2. Open your security settings.
  3. Define a second authentication factor, such as an authenticator app or a passkey/security token.

Please note: If SMS is still set up as your second authentication factor after 14 September 2026, you will only be able to log in with your edu-ID once you have set up an alternative method.

For questions or technical issues, please contact the IT Service Desk.
